Cardinal – Meet The Team

Reagan Arthur
SVP and Publisher, Cardinal
Reagan Arthur began her publishing career as an editorial assistant at St. Martin’s Press, and has since worked at Picador, Little, Brown, and Alfred A. Knopf. Authors she’s edited include Kate Atkinson, Tina Fey, Bono, James Patterson, Elin Hilderbrand, Joshua Ferris, Nathan Hill, Megan Abbott, Rachel Cusk, Attica Locke, and Clemence Michallon.
At Cardinal, she’s building a carefully focused list of literary and commercial fiction, with occasional forays into narrative non-fiction. Cardinal launches in September 2025 with Catherine Chidgey’s The Book of Guilt; in 2026, the list features four dazzling debut novels, a brilliant short story collection, and the return of two bestselling and acclaimed crime writers, George Pelecanos and Ian Rankin.

Emily Chen
Editorial Assistant, Cardinal
Emily grew up in greater Boston, and her first job was as a bookseller at Eight Cousins. She graduated from the University of Southern California; during college, she interned at Kaya Press, PEN America, and Farrar, Straus & Giroux.
Emily is thrilled to land at Cardinal, where she supports Reagan Arthur. She assists on fiction by literary and commercial authors, alongside select narrative nonfiction. In her free time, she’s keen to read plotted novels that are incisive and politically attentive and creative nonfiction that carefully integrates narrative, research, and/or criticism.
